Candice brings more than 14 years of experience in the marine industry, with a career built around custom canvas fabrication, design, and craftmanship.

Her technical training began on the East Coast of the United States, and later working under the guidance of a marine fabricator with more than two decades of experience. That foundation instilled an appreciation for precision, traditional fabrication techniques, and the importance of getting the details right.

Her experience extends well beyond the workshop.

Candice has crewed offshore deliveries in the Caribbean, experienced open-ocean conditions, and developed an intimate understanding of what marine equipment needs to withstand beyond the dock.

At 29, she circumnavigated Vancouver Island aboard her own boat - a journey that further shaped her understanding of coastal cruising and the practical demands placed on marine canvas and equipment.

That experience continues to influence the way she approaches every project. Design isn't simply about how something looks; it needs to work naturally aboard the vessel, withstand the environment, and make life on the water better.

At Sea Dreams, Candice leads the creative and technical direction of canvas projects, from initial consultation and design through patterning, fabrication and final fit.

DAvid Michaud

Co-Founder | Lead Fabricator

David brings 10  years of experience in the marine industry and a background that gives Sea Dreams a distinctive technical advantage.

He began his career as a marine mechanic before moving into sailmaking and marine canvas fabrication. His mechanical background, combined with experience servicing industrial sewing and fabrication equipment, gave him a strong understanding of both the machinery and the mechanics behind marine fabrication.

His professional background spans two of the most technical trades in the marine world - marine technician and mechanic, and sailmaker with UK Sails (now North Sails), where he also serviced the industrial sewing machines himself. Trained in canvas fabrication by Candice, David has since become the lead fabricator, responsible for all frame design, metalwork, and the final build of every commission.

He brings an engineer's mindset to the work - every frame he designs is built to fit precisely, flex correctly, and integrate seamlessly with your vessel's structure.

His standard is simple: if it isn't right, it doesn't leave the shop.
